i bought this steamer on sale a few months ago and i never had the nerve to really cook something in it. who knew that it was THAT easy and quick!






of course, ainsley harriott does it much better and if you want the exact recipe you probably should stick to his segment of the series "gourmet express"

a love story

must ... make ... mini chocolate cakes ...

90 g chocolate
90 g butter
3 eggs
3 tbsp of caster sugar
4 tbsp of flour

1. preheat oven to 220 °c
   
2. melt chocolate and butter over hot water
   
3. thoroughly whisk eggs and sugar and add the melted chocolate/butter-mix
   
4. whisk in 3 teaspoons of flour
   
5. spoon into cups
   
6. bake for 20 minutes

if you dare you can bake them for 10 minutes only and get a soft centered version. the best way to eat them soft is with whipped cream or ice cream ... yummmmm-mmmiee!

as i watched ainsley's gourmet express the other day i remembered that they once made those soft centered chocolate pudding things ... i could not find the recipe online and i did not remember all the correct mesurements for the ingredients, so i made up a recipe on my own. i had such a craving for chocolate pudding, i just couldn't wait!

after some more research (and with chocolate smeared around my mouth) i found a similar pudding on the bbc homepage. this recipe is by ben o'donoghue, a tv chef i've come to really like - i don't know much about him, but i know his sensational recipes on the bbc2 show "the best" with paul merrett, silvana franco & ben o'donoghue.

i love that show so much, i could marry it ... or eat it!

and while i am really glad that i can get a decent cooking channel via satellite here, i really really really could move to london again just for all those mouthwatering bbc cooking shows. i might even do that - i can spend a semester abroad (all expenses paid) before i finish my masters degree, so i might as well go back to london ... stupid austria, i'd even have to pay twice as much for the books of my favorite cookery shows here. that's really unfair.

so you see, i just have to spend some more time in london!

i am one lucky girl

i became hooked on cooking shows during my time in london. i quickly became addicted to carismatic tv chefs and tv cooking long before jamie oliver hit the small screen. the trend of tv cooking shows only started in the german speaking countries (or austria at least) two or three years ago. it quickly became a trend and though i enjoy some of the shows that are around on cable tv from germany i was always looking back wistfully on the british shows and the creative twist and yet sometimes very very british approach the bbc has always put on their cooking shows.

i was always very fond of ainsley harriott and gary rhodes. i actually saw gary rhodes on leicester square shortly before i left for austria again. but i was too shy to approach him for an autograph ...

now, i bought a digital sat receiver a few weeks ago and one of the first things i discovered was this german cooking channel, tv gusto. AMAZING!! a whole CHANNEL!!! as i am pretty addicted to tv sometimes i pretty much am nailed to my couch now skipping from the new found tv gusto to the new found travel channel and back :) one night last week on a commercial break on the thirsty traveller (so cool!!!) i switched back to tv gusto and there he was - AINSLEY HARRIOT was laughing, cooking and making jokes!!

oh my god! amazing! i cound hardly believe it and as i switched on my computer beaming with joy i quickly found out that tv gusto actually has a whole bbc food segment every evening. many different shows, various different chefs, supercool cooking for one hour, and every evening! i still can not believe it. this is just lovely. i certainly know where i will spend my evenings for the next couple of months. i will sit in my cozy livingroom watching gary rhodes do something amazing to eggs. or fish. or asparagus. or even cauliflower.

oh, i can hardly wait until tomorrow to see another british celebrity chef embark upon a new cooking adventure ...
